July 18: Big Day last week - the long awaited, and somewhat surprising, stone for the kitchen counters arrived. While away, we were informed that the quartz stone chosen last fall was not going to be available until the end of July or perhaps the end of August. Without counters, plumbing cannot be finished, and appliances cannot be installed. The domino effect prompted us to look at other options. On suggestions from our interior designer (I cannot take credit for this one!), we reviewed granite and quartz options online, and in pictures supplied by the local installer, Stone Age. All the home building literature advises that you should actually go to the supplier and view your individual piece of stone prior to purchasing, but being on the other side of the Atlantic, this was not an option. So with faith in our design team, we made a long distance decision, and we do not regret it at all - the stone (granite) looks amazing. We should have a real kitchen in a week or so.
